Rock the Universe!

Here are just some quick snapshots from the concert. There's a story about vegemite near the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

Gotta love that blue guitar!

You think there's enough Cap'N Crunch on the stage there? Hee hee. I wonder how many pounds of cereal have been tossed at their shoes over the years. Scary thought...

FauxJo and Dunny rockin' out.

Phil visiting with Duncan, with the ever-present goofy smile.

Won't you take him to... Funky Town?

Won't you take him to... Funky Town? (I ask again.)

Won't you take him to... Funky Toooooowwwwwn? (One more time!)

(And finally) Won't you take him to... Funky Town? (I hope after all that you will. Well, if you don't want to take him there, maybe he can get a ride with Phil, who is lurking nearby.

Playing for a huge crowd at Universal Studios, Hollywood... Just a little too boring for Jeff to get into, I guess. :)

While Jeff attempts to wake up, Peter and his plaid pants continue with the show.

Awesome show or three musicians wandering around and shrugging at the audience? You decide!

How I wish I had a press pass for all Newsboys events and could get front-row each time... I'd never have to contend with heads in my shots ever again!

Well, lookie there. Sleepy head is finally waking up! Ah, I'm just teasing. As we all know by now, Jeff has his eyes closed in almost all photos, but he's never asleep. He always puts on such a great show!

It would have been so much better if it had been in focus, huh? Sigh... Ah well.

Here's a better look at Peter's outfit. Leather (of leather-like; I can never tell) jacket with plaid lining and matching plaid pants. I actually thought it was kind of cool, but at the same time it's sort of painful to see plaid coming back. I'm almost old enough to remember it from the first time around...

I feel sorry for Phil when he has to play and sing at the same time. He is suddenly no longer as mobile as he likes to be, so I guess he makes up for it (as seen above) by kicking his legs. Meanwhile, the security guard does his Napoleon impression.

See, the security guard has recruited two of the Newsboys to help him keep an eye on things. Phil is in charge of staring at the sky, Jeff is staring at Jody's half of the audience, and the security guard only has Phil's side of the audience to keep tabs on. Works out well, I suppose. Do you think the Newsboys get paid extra for helping out like that?

Get your hands in the air if you're not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ! (Those are the hands of Kyle and her mom, by the way.)

And scandal rocks the CCM world when it's learned that Duncan Phillips, Phil Joel, and Jeff Frankenstein are actually the Riddler, the Joker, and Narcolepsy Man, as is proven by the tilted camera angle. As any fan of the old Batman series knows, anyone shown with a tilted camera angle can safely be assumed to be a bad guy. Wow. Who would have expected the three of them? What a shame...

Robin asked me for the vegemite jar. She waved it in the air during "Breakfast." "WE HAVE VEGEMITE FOR YOUR TOAST!!!!!!!" she yelled. Peter heard her and saw the vegemite.

"Is that for me?" he asked, stepping to the front of the stage.

"Yes!" we all shouted and nodded.

Thanks for Florence for this awesome photo. I tried to get a picture but couldn't because the couple next to me was trying to get a bag of In-N-Out food up onstage to Duncan and the bag was RIGHT in my face. Good thing Florence was there!

Peter took the vegemite from Robin. This later leads to Robin forever shrieking "I touched Peter Furler!!!" And extra special thanks to Concretegirl2 for this photo. Isn't it great?! Actually, their whole site is awesome. You can find it here.

"Ah, vegemite! Great stuff!" Peter said. "Grows hair on yer head!" And he slapped his own thick mane for emphasis! :)

He set it down at the base of the drumset and, pointing at Dunny, proclaimed "Touch that and I will kill you!!!" Hee hee hee hee hee!!!! I love that grin on Duncan's face. You know they're going to wrestle for it later on.

I really like this photo. It looks for all the world like Duncan is eying that vegemite near the end of the show. Of course, there's no way he could see it over all the drums, but it still looks funny!
