Shine

So how do you combine lyrics about hamsters, dictators, origami, crayons, and more into a music video? Why... just like this!

["Shine" begins playing as soon as the video starts. During the instrumental at the beginning, we see a curtain which parts to reveal...]

[...a hamster walking in a wheel.]
[But anyone who knows the song knows this hamster's fate.]

[Isn't he a cute little guy? Well, say your goodbyes now...]
[Because it's time to chow down!]

[With salt and pepper to taste, of course.]
[The Newsboys make their appearance when the percussion kicks in.] [They spend this time dancing around a disco ball. They're quite choreographed. It's bizarre to watch. Almost too boy-band-ish, but in a kooky Newsboys fashion.]

[I wonder: if this had been made AFTER the LoveLibertyDisco tour, would Peter have still been willing to dance this close to a disco ball? Those are dangerous, you know.]

[Aren't they just the happiest Newsies you ever did see? Don't worry. Phil's coming up later.]
[There must be a delay in lunch, because our hamster friend still lives.]

[More choreographed Newsboys...]
[Huddle!] [Well, we knew that hamster couldn't last too long. Bye bye!]

[Oh goodness. A little indigestion?] [The last thing you want is hamster breath, I guess.]

[Yes, that is the same sort of head brace thingy they use at the optometrist's office.]

Dull as dirt you can't assert
The kind of light that might

Persuade a strict dictator to retire,
Fire the army,

[He takes a numbered sign. He's number one.]

Teach the poor origami.
The truth is in,
The proof is when

You hear your heart start asking,
"What's my motivation?"

[Spinning between lines.]
[More spinning.]

Try as you may,
There isn't a way
To explain the kind of change

[The Eskimo gets the number 2, for those keeping track.]

That would make an Eskimo renounce fur,
That would make a vegetarian barbecue hamster.

[And trade the fur in for long johns, I guess!]

Unless you can trace this about-face to a certain

 sign!

It's time for the chorus! Head on over to page two and sing along with the screen shots!
