March 30, 2002. St. John's Lutheran Church of Orange. City of Orange. Orange County, California. A day that shall live in infamy... at least in my mind. 'Cause that's the day I got to meet all five of the Newsboys and hang out with Beth, Kyle, Ersh, and Concretegirl2! Does a day get any better than that? Most likely not. Please enjoy my (not so great) pics from that fun day. I will scan them at some point, I'm sure, but for now these are just quick shots of my photos taken with my admittedly bad web cam.

There was a screen overhead and a camera trained on the guys the whole time. But before they came out, the screen showed this still, which I just had to get a picture of because I'm just that obsessive. :)

Finally the guys came out and chatted with us for quite a while. The audience had been asked for their questions before the Newsboys made their appearance and the emcee asked them of the guys throughout the afternoon.

Jody! Look up! We can't see your face! Oh well...

Throughout the afternoon, Peter was teasing Duncan about messing up during the PAX Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show. Duncan faked an "I'm so hurt" look and Peter reached over and gave him a big ol' hug. I didn't get a very good picture of it, but you can sort of make out Peter and Duncan.

Phil gabbing away. What else is new? :)

Duncan plays the didgeridoo, which is an Aboriginal wind instrument. It's basically a several-foot-long hollow wooden tube that is blown into. I have a miniature didgeridoo and took it along with me to the meet-n-greet. I asked Duncan to please sign it, and the look on his face was classic. I am so grateful to Concretegirl2 for getting this picture! Yea! "It's just a little one!" Duncan declared.

Here's another portion of that picture. Peter is signing my Newsboys scrapbook, which is where I put my concert photos, pictures of the guys from online, and other Newsboys goodies. The Boyz all had fun pawing through it and teasing each other about the baby photos in there. Peter liked the photo of his doggy, Coco, and Phil patted a picture of Phynley.

And here's the rest of that same photo. I didn't get much of a chance to chit-chat with the guys, but I did get to meet them all. It was entirely too cool.

Again, thank you thank you thank you to Concretegirl2 who asked if I'd like my picture taken and got this great shot of Peter and a wildly grinning Eanah. Pete never takes a bad photo, does he?

After the Q&A and the autographs, the guys were asked to stand up on the stage so that we (and the radio crew hosting this shindig) could take pictures of the whole band. Phil, however, was off somewhere for a while. Eventually he returned to thundering applause. What a goof.

Some close-ups from a group photo.

Someone yelled "over here!" which is why they're all looking to the side.

The full version of the close-ups.

I think Jody hates my camera. This isn't the first time he's glared at it. Hee hee.

Well lookie there. Phil finally showed up!

And Jody looks morose for a change. ;-)

One final shot of the band (Jody is off to the left looking morose).

The Fish 95.9 radio crew mixed in with the Newsboys.

Here's what my didgeridoo looked like when the guys got done with it. I think it's a stunning improvement!

Very cool. I wonder if they've ever been asked to sign a didgeridoo before. I would imagine so.

So there you go! Feel like you've met them all now? Well, if you're looking for even more Newsboys fun-ness, head back to the media section.
