Yea! It's time for Celebrate Freedom 2001. This concert took place in Dallas, Texas waaay back in late June 2001 (just before the Fourth of July, hence the patriotic title). The Newsboys were given a forty-minute set and promptly spent eight minutes on a sound check. :( But we do want our Newsboys sounding good, right? So I suppose it's all worth it. But anyway, please enjoy a few pages of Texan fun! WooHoo!

See that drummer back there? Don't worry. This isn't a Duncan-less concert like Rock the Desert 2001. He's a local radio guy from Dallas who happens to know how to drum. So the Newsboys are having him as a guest to supplement Duncan. Whew!
Peter is having an epiphany...or not.
Peter and that wacky grin of his! Peter and Phil, the best of mates. They make quite the contrast, don't they?
Jeff, his two keyboards, and his "boss Dr. Sample." Peter shows off his hilarious dance moves.
Do the Furler! You know, he's looking slightly ape-ish in this shot. Maybe he realized that too...
'Cause now he's doing his impression of King Kong on the Empire State Building!
Sorry about this terrible banner. Ah well... Peter conducts the audience in a little sing-along of Shine. Okay, I'm weird. But I'm thinking back to my music class in college and thinking that having Peter as a conductor would have been a whole lot more fun than who I actually ended up with!

Still to come: more shots of Peter (the cameras seem to fixate on Peter at the beginning of these shows) and grins from the irrepressible Duncan Phillips.
