Electric. Dynamic. High Energy. Uncompromising. Accurate descriptions of the performances given in a tiny, but jam-packed room atop a music store in old-town Fredricksburg.

The feature act, the Newsboys quickly brought the crowd to its feet. Refuge Records' import from Australia had the floor bouncing like a kangaroo. The four-piece band combined tight rock 'n' roll with comic antics that kept the audience wondering what would happen next. Guitarist George Perdikis and drummer Pete Furler were all over the small stage, never content to play instruments from the usual positions. Lead vocalist John James established a good rapport with the audience with his first "g'day." Bass guitarist Sean Taylor watched it all in amused silence.

Jesus was the real newsflash from the Newsboys, however. He was evident in the lyrics of their songs and the looks on their faces. James' heartfelt and heartwrenching depiction of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection made the good news crystal clear.
